How To Register a Company or A Startup Online in 4 Easy Steps?

Well...it's a brand new year. It's time to take your dream of starting your start-up to the next level -- the actual setting-up. But you don't know how to go about it. Well, worry not for today I am going to tell you how exactly do you go about setting up your new company. And the best thing is that you can do this in the comfort of your home without the need to visit BADA BABUS in their dusty, musty offices.

STEP 1 - Get a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

A DSC is basically a secure digital key that is issued by the certifying authorities for validating and certifying the identity of the person holding the certificate. The IT Act, 2000 has made it mandatory to have Digital Signatures on documents submitted electronically in order to ensure its security and authenticity. So, you basically need a DSC if you are submitting documents online. Thus, the first step to register a company online is to get a digital signature.

STEP 2 - Get a Director Identification Number (DIN)

In order to get a DIN (an 8 digit unique identification number with a lifetime validity), just fill in the form available on the MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) website -- DIR-3.

The form then needs to be digitally signed and then uploaded on the MCA webportal, along with other attachments, namely photograph, proof of identity and address proof. Please note that the documents need to be attested by a full-time CA or CS or CMA.

Make online payment, after which an application number will be generated. Once the DIN is approved, the same would be communicated to the applicant within 1 month.

Notes:
A) In case there are any changes in the particulars of the director, then the same is filled in the DIR-6 Form.
B) In case the DIN is rejected, the reason for rejection will be both emailed and put on the website and you will have 15 days to rectify the same and resubmit.

STEP 3 - Create an account on MCA Portal

1) Click on 'Register'
2) Fill-in the details
3) Click on 'Create My Account'

STEP 4 - Apply for the Company to be registered

And that's it!!!
