Does A Wife Remain A Wife After Divorce?

Have you ever wondered... that when a man and wife separate after a divorce, is the wife still a 'wife'?

The answer is: YES!

The term 'Wife' has been defined in Explanation (b) to Section 125(1) of CrPC as follows: "Wife includes a woman who has been divorced by, or has obtained a divorce from, her husband and has not remarried. "

Therefore, wife can mean a 'wedded wife' or even a 'divorced wife'. Thus, a wife remains a wife even after divorce.

Note: Do you know what that means. It means once a woman gets married, she remains a 'WIFE' all her life. Wanna know how? Think about it and go back to the last part of the explanation, which says "till she has not married."

Now imagine she marries again. True, she stops being your wife but becomes someone else's "wife." Now even if she was to divorce this 2nd man, she will still continue to be the 2nd man's wife till she marries a 3rd man, after which she once again becomes a wife, albeit the 3rd man's wife... and so on and so forth.

In short, after marriage...a woman continues to be a wife till the day she dies (one man's or another).
